Drama series Crash Landing On You has achieved the highest viewership ratings in the history of South Korean TV channel TVN.
Crash Landing On You, starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, toppled previous records set by the 2016 hit drama Goblin, according to data by Nielsen Korea.
According to Nielsen Korea, the final broadcast of “Crash Landing on You” scored an average nationwide rating of 21.683 percent and a peak rating of 24.1 percent, smashing the previous record set by “Goblin” back in January 2017 (whose finale achieved a peak rating of 20.5 percent).
The drama performed even better in the Seoul metropolitan area, where it scored an average viewership rating of 23.249 percent for its final episode.
Crash Landing On You tells the story of a super-rich South Korean heiress named Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye Jin) who goes paragliding and accidentally lands in North Korea. There, Se-ri meets a North Korean military officer named Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin) who attempts to hide her and falls in love with her in the process.
